The Parish of Bledlow with Saunderton and Horsenden

Our Vicar

Revd Jennifer Locke, Vicar, Bledlow Parish Our Vicar, the Revd Jennifer Locke, was born and brought up in Scotland, and studied Religious Studies at Edinburgh University. She has taught Religious Studies in secondary schools for most of her working life, though while she lived in the Sultanate of Oman in the late 70s and early 80s she taught English as a Foreign Language at the British Council. She and her family have lived in Buckinghamshire since 1985.

Ordained deacon in 2008 and priest in 2009, she served her curacy at St Mary’s, Wexham, before moving to Bledlow and taking up her current post as Team Vicar of Bledlow with Saunderton and Horsenden in 2011.

She met her husband, Matthew, at university, where he was studying architecture. They married in 1974 and have three grown up daughters, two of whom are married with their own families.

She writes: 'I came to Bledlow, Saunderton and Horsenden in 2011 and found a warm and caring Christian community here to welcome me. Living and serving here is a great pleasure, and Matthew, my husband, and I enjoy living in the heart of Bledlow within the shadow of the church, and overlooking the beautiful countryside.

I am a great enthusiast of the parish system. It means I am here for everyone in the parish, whether or not they come to church, or count themselves as Christian - everyone in the parish has someone to turn to if they hit troubled times and need a listening ear. The churches are God's churches, and are available for use by everyone in the parish, even though they might not worship with us on a Sunday morning.

When I am not working I am usually to be found on the golf course, or spending time with my daughters and grandchildren.'
